Responsibilities
Conduct thorough visual inspections of optical lenses, frames, and related components using specialized equipment to identify defects or inconsistencies.
Verify that all optical products comply with specified quality standards, including measurements related to curvature, thickness, and surface integrity.
Utilize electronic medical record (EMR) systems to document inspection results accurately and efficiently.
Collaborate with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and optical staff to ensure product specifications align with patient prescriptions and clinical requirements.
Maintain detailed records of inspection processes, findings, and corrective actions in accordance with HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards.
Assist in the calibration and maintenance of inspection tools and equipment to ensure ongoing accuracy.
Support the training of new team members on inspection procedures, quality standards, and safety protocols.
Stay informed about advancements in optical technology, ophthalmology practices, and medical coding relevant to quality assurance.
Qualifications
Prior experience in optical inspection or a related field within ophthalmology or optometry clinics is highly preferred.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and ophthalmology principles.
Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic or similar platforms for documentation purposes.
Understanding of HIPAA regulations concerning patient privacy and data security.
Experience working with medical records management and medical coding processes.
Basic knowledge of optics principles, including lens manufacturing standards and surface quality assessment.
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
