Stafkings is seeking an experienced Buyer / Procurement Specialist to support a fast-paced manufacturing operation serving commercial, government, and defense industries. This role is responsible for managing end-to-end procurement activities, ensuring materials are sourced on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality and production requirements. The ideal candidate brings hands-on manufacturing buying experience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day procurement activities to support production and operational needs.
Analyze MRP/ERP data to ensure accurate purchasing of materials, components, and assemblies.
Create, issue, and manage purchase orders for production and non-production materials.
Maintain accountability for cost, delivery schedules, and inventory accuracy.
Monitor supplier performance and proactively address quality, delivery, or pricing issues.
Expedite and escalate orders as needed to prevent production delays.
Work closely with Quality and Supplier Quality teams to resolve non-conforming material issues within required timelines.
Partner with Engineering to qualify, develop, and onboard new suppliers.
Negotiate pricing, terms, and lead times to achieve cost savings and favorable purchasing agreements.
Identify opportunities for cost reduction and supply chain process improvements.
Collaborate with internal departments to ensure alignment with production schedules and business objectives.
Support special projects and additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
Minimum of 2+ years of procurement or buying experience in a manufacturing environment.
Proven experience purchasing assemblies, components, or metal fabrication.
Strong working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills with suppliers and internal teams.
Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting tight deadlines.
Strong attention to detail with a proactive, solutions-driven mindset.
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Experience supporting commercial, government, or defense manufacturing environments.
Technical aptitude with the ability to collaborate across Engineering, Quality, and Operations.
