Position Summary:
Stafkings is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Buyer/Procurement Specialist. This position supports a fast-paced manufacturing environment serving commercial, government, and defense industries. The ideal candidate will be proactive, adaptable, and capable of solving problems independently while maintaining clear communication across departments and with suppliers.
Key Responsibilities:
Execute tactical supply chain strategies to ensure timely and cost-effective material procurement.
Analyze MRP data to purchase the correct materials and meet production deadlines.
Create, manage, and maintain purchase orders and other procurement documents for production and non-production materials.
Maintain accountability for cost, schedule, and inventory accuracy.
Monitor supplier performance, provide feedback to the Director of Supply Chain and Quality teams, and take corrective actions as needed.
Identify and resolve delivery or schedule issues to prevent production interruptions.
Expedite and escalate orders as necessary to support dynamic production demands.
Collaborate with Supplier Quality to manage non-conforming materials within prescribed timelines.
Partner with Engineering to qualify and develop new suppliers.
Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings and favorable purchasing conditions.
Support cost reduction initiatives and supply chain improvement projects.
Interface effectively with all business units to ensure alignment of procurement goals.
Perform other related duties or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
Minimum of 2 years of related procurement experience in a manufacturing environment.
1–2 years of experience as a Buyer managing assemblies, components, or metal fabrication.
Strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and ERP/MRP systems.
Proven ability to think critically and “outside the box” to solve problems.
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or a related technical discipline.
Strong technical background and ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
