If you are a Personal Assistant (PA) providing Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Services (CDPAS) within the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP) you are most likely eligible for a free, one-day alternate competency demonstration (ACD) for Personal Care Aid (PCA) certification.
Why Get Certified?
Upon certification, you will be qualified to provide licensed PCA services.
The consumer you currently assist in the CDPAP program may qualify to transition to LHCSA services through our agency all fully covered by NYS Medicaid.

Job Description
Experience and Qualifications: High School graduate or GED preferred. Certified as a Personal Care Aide (PCA) through completion of an approved NYS Department of Health (NYSDOH) or NYS Education Department (NYSED) training program or through an approved NYSDOH competency testing curriculum. Prior experience in homecare, caregiving or a related setting preferred. Demonstrated ability to approach clients with compassion, empathy and respect for their individuality and cultural background. Able to read and write, understand and follow written and verbal direction and instructions, record messages and keep simple records. Ability to follow care plans and adapt to the changing needs of the clients. Communicates effectively with clients, families, Stafkings and other team members. Must undergo a criminal history record check as required by NYS Department of Health Rules and Regulations governing Licensed Home Care Services Agencies (LHCSAs).
